MBA
"As I already had a Master of Science in Engineering Physics it was interesting to compare the two styles of learning. I realised that on a campus course, you had no idea what the guy sitting next to you in a lecture was thinking; [however] online the discussion between classmates was very valuable - you didn't just get the lecturer's view of a subject. What's more the international representation [of classmates] was exciting, and it meant that there were lots of people in class with much more experience than me. The knowledge I acquired was instantly applicable, and I have already recommended the programme to a colleague."

"I expected the programme would be tedious, individual study and lots of course work. However, it was just the opposite: lively class interaction both from students and facilitators. In addition, it was coherent, challenging and spot on. The instructors were experienced and well qualified. They were friendly, supportive and answered all my queries whether they related to studies or other topics. I was amazed at how modules were communicated and the lively classroom interaction. I was also surprised how project assignments with tight deadlines could be successfully completed with team participation from different time zones. Besides our studies, the online programme was filled with challenges, fun and memories that will last forever."

"For those who have careers, I would say learning online is the best way to benefit from both working and studying. Good time management was the key to fitting study into the rest of my life. With the amount of reading, writing and discussing going on, it was quite amazing how much one could learn in such a short term. Without noticing, there was a world opening up to me. I started to be interested in politics and economics around the world, not just what was around me. This most definitely enhanced my management capability in my present business. The MBA provided by the University of Liverpool came across as the best choice for me at exactly the right time."

Starting any type of study is always a daunting prospect. […]There are a lot of sacrifices and there is a lot of effort that has gone into the last two years for me to get this degree. But I can safely say that, without the manner in which the Laureate and Liverpool programme is delivered, it would simply have been impossible for me to study an MBA. I signed up in one country and studied while living in another, during the programme I had to study for a period of time from a third country and not once was I worried about missing coursework. I am very happy to be finally graduating and having achieved almost everything that I set out to achieve by starting this programme. It has progressed my career, my knowledge has grown extensively and I finally feel that I have the understanding to realise my long-term business objectives. To all those still studying, I say, stick with it. No matter how often the bad times occur, the feeling when handing in your final dissertation is unbelievable.

"The strengths of this course [lie in] the combination of content and its delivery. The content is well balanced and covers all the aspects of management that are needed in today's global business environment. The international nature of the classrooms is unique and adds so many perspectives that can never be achieved in a physical classroom. Every discussion is seen from multiple views and the students get to read all the submissions and are even required to add comments and discuss the important points made by their classmates. This makes learning broader, richer and unique. The collaboration that is a part of group tasks is an enriching experience. I got to work in teams where my team members were from three different continents working in totally different time zones. The results of such collaborative learning are amazing."

"I thought the programme was just going to be a nice addition to my CV, but it turned out to be fun too. At the end of each working day, when I sat preparing an assignment or contributing to class discussions, I felt I was doing something personally enriching. One of the most exciting events was an assignment I shared with students from Hong Kong, UK and The Netherlands. The integration of theory with the team's experience was a unique experience that we all enjoyed."

"The most exciting part of the online programme was the ability to exchange experiences with students from all over the world. Many students had incredible experience in a given field and they were happy to share it with the class. Learning different points of view and seeing different approaches being used to solve presented problems made me more aware of the value of hands-on experience. It allowed me to understand much more clearly how there may be more than one correct way to accomplish any given task. I often talk with my friends about my experiences on this Masters programme. I try to encourage them to try it, because the satisfaction of accomplishment is the best boost to your self-confidence."

"I was looking for a Masters degree related to my field (Computer Science) that would fit into my lifestyle and provide me with additional specialist knowledge. I chose the University of Liverpool online MSc in IT because it is flexible enough to let you decide when you want to study. I expected the programme to be interesting, high level and easy to follow. I think it met my expectations! In fact, it played a big role in helping me get a better job."

"As time progresses since my graduation, the knowledge I gained from the course is put to use in various degrees - and not just the technical skills. The soft skills were really nurtured from doing the course. My confidence in dealing with senior management has grown, especially my communications skills on all levels. I've changed jobs several times since graduation. Having the degree definitely helped. I've found that the companies I've interviewed with are impressed that it shows self-discipline and focus whilst working full-time. So it has opened doors and also helped me to move to a more senior management level in IT than before. In terms of impacting my personal life - well, my salary has gone up considerably since graduation, about 50%. If you want to learn more on a professional level and more about yourself, this is an amazing opportunity."

"The best thing about the online programme was the vast diversity of classmates, with varying degrees of knowledge, some of them working at the cutting edge of technology. Doing this Masters programme has helped me enormously, giving me confidence, a major sense of accomplishment (and relief) on completion and new skills, such that I recently launched my own business. I now know I have the skills, the work ethic and the ability to stick at it through rought times and good times and be successful."

"The Liverpool online programme has been ideal for me because I needed to fit my studies in with a demanding job, sometimes having to cope with unpredictable hours. In addition, the whole concept allowed me some flexibility to work at my own pace. I haven't just received an education in IT, I've also learned a significant amount about self-study and self-reliance - and having a good qualification from a respected university is a real plus point. In an area such as IT, which moves so quickly, it is much better if the qualification is seen as being right up-to-date. My career has been transformed since I gained the Masters degree - and remarkably rapidly. I graduated in June 2003, had interviews in July and August, and started a new job in September. I'm now managing major software development projects for large customers, such as major retail chains and government departments. Using the Masters as a foundation stone, the 'flavour' of my CV has now been transformed...Long term, this strengthened CV can only improve my earning potential and job security."

MPH
“Given the work I was already doing in environmental health, it felt natural to move onto the MPH programme, although I was surprised to find an online version. In fact, this turned out to be really important, as I needed a study method that would let me juggle a full time career and a young family. I have learned so much and have been able to put a lot of it into practice with my colleagues and in the community. For example, my team benefits directly from my new knowledge and has taken part in focus groups within the course modules. Naturally I tell them about useful books and papers I have been introduced to and it is really gratifying to see what I have learned being shared and used as a positive influence within the organisation. My company was generous in helping me fund my Master’s and it’s great that they can benefit directly from it too.”

“The research and methodology aspects of public health attracted me to high level study and this MPH programme covered exactly what I wanted to learn. My IT skills are rather basic, so I was a bit concerned that it was 100% online, but in fact that part of it was really easy. The studying wasn’t though. I think you have to work harder in the virtual classroom than for a traditional degree.
It’s important to stay motivated, but the support from my [student support] manager was superb and the course itself was fantastic. There was a fabulous diversity of students and I gained so much from my classmates, for example the experience of those who were doctors or pharmacists. I was so impressed with the programme overall. It’s given me so much more confidence and opened up avenues I didn’t think I could ever get involved in. It was so worth it!”
