EDS's Richard Oosterom participates in Leaders Forum for K.I.T. eLearning's
students
Rotterdam, October 15, 2001
K.I.T. eLearning hosted its Autumn Leaders Forum for students working
in the Netherlands today, as a special featured event of the City of Rotterdam's
annual "Business Festival". The guest speaker was Richard Oosterom,
the Managing Director of EDS in this country.
EDS is a thought leader in the IT field and the global leader in professional
services. Mr. Oosterom, who has led his business to 25% growth in one
year, despite current trends in the industry, spoke on the theme of, "Leadership
Transformation at EDS".
Yoram Kalman, Senior Vice President and Head of Academic Affairs at K.I.T.
eLearning, observed, "Richard's presentation is exciting. It's obvious
that his company's success owes a lot to his management paradigm, which
is based on vision, trust, and empowerment of his employees."
Mr. Kalman points out, "We're using the same paradigm in the classroom,
where we've also undertaken a major transformation in the relationship
between students and their instructors. The bottom line is that the role
of the instructor is to assure that each student learns how to realize
his professional potential".

Guests in the extra-curricula event included 90 students in the University
of Liverpool's online MBA and MSc in IT programs, as well as senior officials
from K.I.T., and dignitaries from the University of Liverpool, among them
Pro Vice Chancellor Professor Kelvin Everest, and the director of the
university's eLearning Unit, Mr. Paul Leng.
"The Leaders
Forum has provided the opportunity to meet many of the people I've been
studying with," said Feena Feensta, a software engineer who is a
student in the MSc in IT program. "I feel part of a network of serious,
high potential people, working in the same industry, not only here in
the Netherlands, but from all over the globe."
