On December 15th, in Liverpool the University of Liverpool and
its e-learning partner K.I.T will have much to be proud of; three
years after the launch of the very first truly international online
masters programme, they are celebrating the graduation of 28 of
their students who have completed online MBA and MSc in Information
Technology programmes.
All study has been undertaken in the University's 'virtual classrooms'
allowing students from anywhere in world to work at their own convenience
without having to commit to a fixed time of day, time zone or day
of the week. Although 50% of those students graduating came from
the UK, others are from Singapore, China, Canada and Egypt.
As one would expect working in this environment, students have
the opportunity to interact, share ideas, learn from one another
and build friendships. Therefore, it will be especially exciting
on Monday when the online graduates met their fellow students in
person for the first time.
Shai Reshef, Chairman for KIT eLearning said, "We have seen
the demand of the online MBA and MSc in IT grow by 100%. And that
demand is coming from all around the globe. We currently have over
1,800 online masters students and graduates from over 80 countries.
However each time a graduation takes place I get much satisfaction
from seeing the students interacting face-to-face for the first
time".
Paul Leng from the University of Liverpool added, "The programmes
meet all the academic standards required by the University of Liverpool,
and have received praise from students for the quality of the tuition
and the relevance of their content to their careers. We are delighted
to be a part of this groundbreaking initiative and at the forefront
of online post-graduate education".
